Why is my AC freezing up?

My central AC unit keeps forming ice on the coils inside, and it stops blowing cold air. What could be causing this? Do I need to call a pro immediately?

Hi Sarah! This is usually caused by restricted airflow (dirty air filter) or low refrigerant levels. First, check and replace your filter if it's dirty. If that doesn't solve it, you'll need a technician to check refrigerant levels and find potential leaks.

How often should I change my furnace filter?

I have a 1-inch pleated filter. Some say 30 days, others say 3 months. What's the real answer for a household with one dog?

Great question, Mike. With a standard 1-inch pleated filter and one pet in the home, we recommend checking it every 30 days and replacing it every 60 days. During heavy use (peak winter/summer), it might need replacement monthly.

Tankless vs Tank water heater?

Our 12-year-old tank heater is leaking and needs replacement. Are tankless water heaters worth the extra upfront cost?

Tankless units have a higher initial cost but offer endless hot water, take up less space, and last longer (usually 20+ years compared to 10-15 for tanks). They are also more energy efficient. We recommend them if you plan to stay in your home long-term.
